Beautifully restored 1986 Gibson Yacht. From her rock-solid, fiberglass hull to the new top deck bimini, the Tortuga is better than new. Her layout is amazingly spacious and extremely comfortable. At only 32 feet in length, she can comfortably accommodate up to 15 adults on a day cruise. Powered by a single, perfectly tuned, Volvo Penta gasoline engine you can get fuel anywhere. All systems (engines, water, batteries, generator, shore electric and plumbing) have been completely restored, function properly, and are used regularly. There is plenty of electrical power provided by a very quiet Northern Lights diesel 6KW generator enclosed in a custom Northern lights sound shield. If you should feel the need to drown out the sound of the waves (or the voice of the person sitting next to you) there is a 500-watt, custom installed, sound system featuring a Yamaha six-disc CD changer driven by a Yamaha receiver pushing four Bose wall-mount speakers and a huge Klipsch amplified base. ( Youve never experienced Willie Nelson singing Georgia until youve heard it through this system, at full volume, at night, on the Intercoastal). Mounted on the front deck are two 48-quart Igloo coolers that double as seats. The top deck accommodates six comfortably on six new vinyl seats under the new bimini top and more can lounge in the sun on the middle deck. All of the stantions and rails on all decks are stainless steel. (This is unusual since most houseboats have aluminum rails and even those with stainless have only chrome stantions) There are also new top and bottom helms. The boat can be driven easily from either station.
The luxurious cabin stays nice and cool in our Texas summers, courtesy of the largest roof-mounted air conditioner available. The cabin has many extras including a new refrigerator, a new top-of-the-line, stainless steel oven and stove and a brushed stainless double sink in the galley. The bathroom also has new fixtures including a full-size, electric flush toilet (bolted through the floor and into the beams to accommodate a person up to 400 lbs) and a full-size shower. Both the galley and bathroom feature new, all wood cabinetry. The main living area and sleeping quarters have been updated as well. In the living area a custom-fit futon serves as the back couch. It folds out into a queen-size bed and comfortably sleeps two adults under a portrait of Winston Churchhill. The front couch is a custom-made L shape that converts to a queen-size bed to give two occupants a great view of the flat screen TV mounted above the helm. This Samsung T.V. can be viewed from the back berth as well and is connected to a roof-mounted, remote controlled antenna. It also has a DVD player integrated with the surround sound. A California king sleeping area is located underneath the main salon in the sleeping berth. This is also a place where younger kids gravitate to during the day. This area can easily accommodate three but can handle up to four adults and has its own TV, fans, and lighting. For an overnight trip she sleeps six adults comfortably. This boat is an absolute blast and is the best layout we have ever played on. In essence, this is one big living room and kitchen. As an example, when we finished the restoration we took the boat from Bridge City, Texas, down Cow Bayou to the Intercoastal and up the Neches River for the Fourth of July weekend in 2004. We had six fourteen year old kids on board with two adults and water skied all weekend behind another boat. We docked at the Beaumont Yacht Club and received dozen of compliments. On Columbus day, we took an office party of twelve people on an afternoon cruise for approximately an hour and a half to a local resturant and did not realize until we got to the resturant that we had a dozen people on board. (Everyone was so spread out that their was never an issue about space or overcrowding). In October we took the boat to Sabine Pass to have a master craftsmen install the stereo system and again, compliments flowed in. Finally, on New Years we took the boat to watch fireworks in Beaumont with another set of six kids and two adults and again everyone who saw the boat loved it. If you are interested in a weekend or day sailor, you could not ask for a more perfect setup.
Unlike 95 percent of all houseboats, this is not an aluminum trailer on the water. Its a all solidly built fiberglass boat. If you want to see more we will be happy to show you the boat in person. We are selling this boat much the same way you would sell a good puppy; we only want it to go to a good home. If you have a sincere interest and promise to take good care of her call us. In the last three years we have put over $80,000 into her restoration.
